Rusted Corten Sheet Product Information
This Rusted Corten sheet is produced in our patina studio to speed up the natural process.
At Metaloffcuts, we carry a large stock of precut blanks of Corten steel, sizes from 100mm x 100mm up to 1200mm x 600mm. The standard stock thickness is 1.0mm (19 gauge) though we often have offcuts of 1.5mm and 2.0mm. Just contact us to check availability. We can rust any of these to order, if you need them cutting down before rusting we can oblige. Our parent company Metal Sheets Ltd carries sheets up to 2500mm x 1250mm, these can be supplied natural or rusted. Metal Sheets can also laser cut and fabricate rusted Corten signs.
Metaloffcuts carry 1.0mm thickness as standard because it is easier to fabricate from a crafting and DIY point of view. You can treat Corten steel sheet just like mild steel; it’s good for bending and welding.
COR-TEN is a trademark of U.S. Steel. Corten is a weathering Steel that is more resistant to corrosion. The rust forms a protective barrier against further corrosion. In an outdoor environment, the colour changes with time through wet and dry cycles, starting as a shade of orange and developing into a fully developed dark brown patina, with the rust tight to the surface.
