Product Knowledge
Yes, all sheets are protected with a peelable plastic film on the face side except for Perforated, Stucco, Chequer and Mild Steel
We do our best to ensure there are no scratches on the face side, the reverse will likely be scratched, this happens during guillotine cutting as will our competitors.
Most of our metal is cut by the guillotine. Sometimes laser or water jet.
This is because the brushing process removes all surface oxide and leaves a surface very reactive to oxygen and damp in the atmosphere. When you peel away the protective plastic film you must seal the metal as soon as possible. Do not touch the surface with bare fingers, always wear lint free gloves.
Guillotine lengths up to 1000mm +/- 1mm, up to 2000mm +/- 2mm, up to 3000mm +/- 3mm. Laser cutting +/- 0.2mm
Metal surfaces can be treated in several ways depending on the type of metal and the finish. Usually, a wax or a lacquer is applied.
We can discuss with individual clients on a case-by-case basis. Just contact us
Yes, you may need a soldering iron around 200 watts. Ensure joints are properly prepared and use a good solder and flux. Our pre-fluxed solder in the Sundries is good to use. If you find solder does not flow properly try preheating the joint. Always do a test piece before attempting the real job.
General Information
Zinc sheet metal gauge is different to steel, aluminium etc. it works in the opposite direction 13zg = 0.8mm, 14zg = 0.9mm, 15zg = 1.0mm, 19zg = 1.5mm. It is better to use metric thickness for clarity.
Both zinc and copper offer a barrier snails and slugs will not cross. Put a band around your plant or plant pot.
Use a strip of zinc sheet along the roof apex, rain running over the zinc produces an alkaline run off which controls moss growth.
We can cut strips of zinc to your widths in lengths up to 3 meters and send them soft rolled. Just contact us.
An easy way to work this out is to think of a sheet of metal 1mm thick and 1 meter square. Then if its copper it will weigh 9.0 kilos, brass 8.4 kilos, zinc 7.2 kilos, aluminium 2.7 kilos and mild steel 7.8 kilos. (All approx.) So, you can transform these numbers easily for any thickness or area.
Yes, our copper is antimicrobial, copper has the innate property of being naturally antimicrobial along with silver and zinc.
