It is an easy metal to work with to produce complex shapes. It is very strong yet lightweight around only one third the weight of steel, it also has good corrosion resistance. Grade 1050 is a very popular general purpose aluminium, it has excellent corrosion resistance, it is very ductile, easy to weld and is very good for painting. It is supplied half hard. Uses include general fabrication, architecture, food industry and chemical plant.

Grade 5251 has better corrosion resistance than 1050 and is used in marine applications.

Grade 5754 is hard wearing and corrosion resistant.
